GL.iNet Comet Q KVM Switch
The GL.iNet Comet Q (GL-RMQ1) is a compact USB-C KVM switch with Wi-Fi 6 that allows for remote control of smartphones, tablets, laptops, and mini PCs without installing additional software on the controlled device. It offers video resolution up to 2K QHD at 60 FPS, a 1.8" touchscreen, access via a web browser and the GLKVM app, and support for Tailscale and ZeroTier. The device operates at the hardware level, allowing you to maintain control even when the controlled device is locked, asleep, logged out, or disconnected from the network. Comet Q is ideal for applications such as remote technical support, test device management, IT team collaboration, operating streaming and recording equipment, and providing remote user support.
A single USB-C cable for video, data, and power
To connect the Comet Q to a supported device, all you need is the built-in USB-C cable, which simultaneously transmits video and data and provides power—no additional HDMI adapters or USB hubs are required. In everyday use, the KVM can draw power directly from the connected devices, while for extended operation or when using devices with only one USB-C port, you can use the additional power input. The USB-C port with power delivery capability allows you to charge the controlled devices simultaneously.
Remote Control of Multiple Devices and Systems
Comet Q works with devices whose USB-C port supports DisplayPort Alt Mode. This includes, among others, iPhone 15 and newer models (except the iPhone 16e), 17e, and iPhone Air; all iPad Pro models from 2018 onward; the 4th-generation iPad Air; the 6th-generation iPad mini; and the 10th-generation iPad. Compatible Android devices include, among others, the Samsung Galaxy series starting with the S8 and Note 8, the Galaxy Z Fold and Z Flip models, and Galaxy Tab S tablets, as well as MacBooks, Mac minis, and Windows laptops equipped with USB-C ports that support video output. Comet Q even allows you to control an iPhone from a Windows computer, a MacBook from an Android tablet, or an iPad from a Linux device.
Access via Browser, App, and Touchscreen
Once connected to a Wi-Fi network, Comet Q enables remote control via a web browser on devices running various operating systems, and using its basic features does not require a subscription fee. The GLKVM app, available for Windows, macOS, iOS, and Android, provides more convenient touch gestures and precise control, and allows you to manage GL.iNet Comet devices from a single location. The 1.8" circular touchscreen allows you to perform initial setup without a computer, connect to Wi-Fi, adjust basic settings, and enable or disable the cloud service.
More Convenient Management and Secure Access
Comet Q allows you to pre-save Wi-Fi network data, so you can configure the device before handing it over to the person who will use it for remote assistance. Access can be securely granted to multiple users with separate accounts, and the multi-device management feature allows you to simultaneously view the screens of computers running Windows, macOS, and Linux, use full-screen or split-screen views, and control multiple computers with a single keyboard and mouse. Security is further enhanced by two-factor authentication (2FA), a 4-digit PIN to lock the touchscreen, and a one-time dynamic code generated when the Comet Q is linked to an account. WireGuard VPN, Tailscale, and ZeroTier are also supported, and when the Comet Q is physically disconnected, the active session is terminated without leaving any background processes running to maintain continued access.
Remote device wake-up
The Wake on LAN feature allows you to remotely wake up connected hardware from sleep or standby mode. This lets you regain access without having to be physically present at the device and continue working even after it has previously entered power-saving mode. However, this feature requires that the controlled device be in a low-power sleep state—it cannot wake up a device that is completely turned off or disconnected from power.
