Unitree L2 RM LiDAR
Unitree L2 RM LiDAR is a compact, high-performance 4D sensor based on Time-of-Flight laser measurement technology. It generates a full 3D point cloud enriched with grayscale information, offering a 360° horizontal and up to 96° vertical field of view. Weighing approximately 230 g and measuring 75 × 75 × 65 mm, the device integrates seamlessly with mobile platforms, providing accurate data for autonomous navigation, mapping, SLAM, localization, motion planning, and obstacle avoidance in both indoor and outdoor environments.
4D scanning and full environmental perception
L2 RM LiDAR measures space using 4D technology, combining the three-dimensional position of points with an additional grayscale channel. The ultra-wide 360° × 96° scanning field and a minimum dead zone of approximately 0.05 m enable accurate mapping of the environment even in the immediate vicinity of the robot. A range of up to approximately 30 m for highly reflective objects (90%) and approximately 15 m for low-reflective surfaces (10%) allows for stable operation in a variety of operating scenarios.
High data density and measurement precision
The sensor offers a sampling rate of up to 128,000 points per second and an effective number of approximately 64,000 points per second, which translates into detailed models. In addition, measurement accuracy of ≤ 2 cm at high reflectivity and a distance resolution of approximately 4.5 mm enable precise mapping of the space structure.
IMU and SLAM algorithms
The Unitree L2 RM LiDAR has a built-in IMU module with a 3-axis accelerometer and a 3-axis gyroscope, which enables synchronization of motion and scanning data. In addition, support for POINT-LIO allows for accurate mapping and support for SLAM algorithms without the need for additional positioning sensors.
System integration and development environments
The Unitree L2 RM LiDAR offers Ethernet (UDP) and UART (TTL) interfaces, enabling flexible integration with various hardware platforms and control systems. The sensor is compatible with ROS, ROS2, and Windows environments, making it easy to use in research, educational, and commercial projects. The available SDK and complete developer documentation facilitate implementation and accelerate the development of your own perception and navigation algorithms.
Designed to work in demanding conditions
The sensor remains stable over a wide temperature range: from approximately -10°C to even 50-60°C. The Class 1 laser class guarantees safe operation in the presence of people, and the IP54 protection rating protects the device from dust and splashes. All this allows for trouble-free use of the L2 RM LiDAR in robots operating in various types of environments.
Works indoors and outdoors
Unitree L2 RM LiDAR enables fast and accurate acquisition of the three-dimensional structure of entire indoor spaces. The sensor records the full geometry of rooms, which facilitates the positioning and autonomous navigation of mobile robots. This data can also be used for more complex tasks, such as autonomous cleaning. What's more, the L2 RM LiDAR model maintains measurement stability even in demanding outdoor conditions – it can handle even very strong lighting with a brightness of up to 100 klux. This allows for stable measurements and precise mapping in full daylight.
Scanning without repetitive measurement trajectories
The sensor generates a high-density, high-precision point cloud thanks to ultra-wide-angle scanning without repetitive trajectories. This approach allows for very detailed spatial data, similar in nature to photographic imaging. The uniform distribution of points improves the clarity of the scene and the quality of the data used in mapping and navigation.
Wide range of applications
Thanks to its capabilities, the L2 RM LiDAR sensor can be used, among other things, in robots used in logistics and warehousing. It is also suitable for intelligent distribution systems, industry and agriculture, factories, and more.
